Why SGRAIL?
The question people ask us most is: what’s next? Which title or record are you after? Truth be told, we’re here because we love this sport and all its diversity — the nerves before a race, the new adventures, and the joy of the process of getting to those days. That’s when nature becomes our playground, and “getting lost” out there is a beautiful part of the journey. That’s where SGRAIL comes from: hours of exploring with friends, pushing each other — but never just for a personal best. Sitting down after a magic day, as a community, sharing stories over a coffee or a beer.

SGRAIL comes to Marin
SGRAIL was born in 2021 from an idea by friends — to create a new kind of (off)-road triathlon: premium destinations, real nature, and a festival built around community rather than the clock.
After Girona and Silvaplana, SGRAIL crosses the Atlantic. Marin County — its bay, its trails and one of the Bay Area’s longest-standing endurance traditions — is the perfect stage to bring that feeling to the United States.
For Jan, Marin is a return to roots: a classic Olympic-distance triathlon, the format where his own road to Olympic gold began — now wrapped in the SGRAIL spirit and paired with a Sunday trail half marathon.
